Why I’m Running
Passion for Activism
I’m running because I want to share my ideas, passion and action for progressive politics with the California Democratic Party. I am most happy when I work with other activists to create positive change in our political system. My interest in politics is grounded in my commitment to social and economic justice, persistent hope, protecting the interests of working Americans and guaranteeing personal liberties for all.
I want to promote that common ground, and work together for peace, universal health care, a living wage with pay equity for equal work, affordable and high quality education, reproductive freedom, affordable housing and a Democrat for President. As the youngest woman and only Latina running in the 13th AD I will continue to work hard to engage youth, women and people of color because we are the margin of victory.
Committed to Progressive Values
Through my activism and volunteering, I’ve made commitments to help support youth organizations who focus on bringing more young people and underrepresented groups to the table. I have used my skills to strengthen progressive youth organizations such as California Young Democrats, Music For America, Voto Latino, Drinking Liberally and the League of Young Voters. As a DCCC member I would continue to forge relationships with other progressive organizations so that we can all excel in our mission to engage young voters and nurture the important role of activism for all of our members.
Building for the Future
DCCC has traditionally been a pipeline for young talent to help shape our Democratic Party. I hope to not only be an inspiration to a younger generation who may want to run in the future but to go further and actively recruit young women and men to run. Being an elected member of the DCCC will give me a larger platform to continue to work hard to bring more underrepresented groups into the San Francisco Democratic Party.
